With July being "Lakes Appreciation Month", members of the LHVA  hosted a Summer Lakes Camp Day on Long Pond last week for campers in the North Stonington and Ledyard Parks&Rec programs! It was the perfect two days to enjoy kayaking, explore the Long Pond, learn how to use a purse seine with LHVA member Patti, and retrieve plants from the lakes to look for invasive plants. The Office of Aquatic Invasive Species (OAIS) team did a fantastic job bringing aquatic plants to life and helping campers learn about the differences between native and invasive aquatic plants found in Connecticut.
