The Lantern Hill Valley Alliance (LHVA), a recognized 501(c)(3) in 2024, was founded in 1973 as a grassroots organization dedicated to preserving the dams and the waters of Long and Bush Ponds. These waters benefit all life in and around the lakes of the Lantern Hill Valley and are the primary water source for the Mystic River Watershed.
The LHVA is committed to protecting these resources, recognizing their importance to the unique ecosystem within the Lantern Hill Valley and downstream. Our organization actively addresses the challenges the lakes face from years of human and environmental pressures. Outreach is a key part of our mission, connecting local communities, schoolchildren, and visitors to the life-giving waters of these lakes.
